P: Proposal for radio trailer 2
Name of Film: 錯覚
(Pronounced Sakkaku which means illusion)
Tagline of Film: 'There's no end to an illusion... except you'
Production Name: VUmagine
Medium: Radio Advert
Format: Audio
Content of Radio: A faint ambient sound of the car park setting falls as it escalates slowly for 4 seconds. Then appears fragile faint footsteps as if it’s approaching from a distance, each step becoming louder and heavier, while a non- diagetic sinister humming music building up with footsteps whisks in, durable for 6 seconds. 3 seconds in the sound of a heavy breathing male will appear which will fade in and out of focus (4 seconds.) A sudden static noise interrupts the sound of the breathing and non-diagetic humming music at that moment making everything fall on top with each other up until climax is grasped (6 seconds). Silence launches for 2 seconds and again falls the male breathing waveringly, gradually coming back to focus. "Wh-who are you?" comes out of fear from the male’s mouth as it falls under a non-diagetic static noise alarming the dialogue mid-sentence. It is then broken up by the non-diagetic background music making all the previous sounds mashed up together repeating and manipulating the male’s voice, lasting for 10 seconds. On top, all the noises will build up together until you clearly hear a knife squelch into a body. Sound of the knife clatters on the cold concrete on floor, echoing (4 seconds). Silence dwells for 3 seconds and waves back to the static/ white noise. "There’s no end to an illusion... Except you" will be said in a distorted, demonic, manipulated way by a male and female voice, yet it is hard to differentiate. The non-diagetic sinister music fades in, in a loud echo between the pause between ‘illusion’ and ‘except you’. There is 2 seconds’ silence and then a sudden gasp jolts in. "Coming soon to cinemas" will be in a sinister whisper, as the non-diagetic music fades out.
Target Audience: The audience we are targeting are British boys and girls around the age of 15-21, so it is a niche audience. But our film will still attract those who are over 21 as the genre is psychological and scientific horror. They can practice any religion e.g. Christianity, Islam, or they may be an Atheist, however some religions may not watch horror films, or films at all due to the religion they practice. The demographics for our audience is E or D as some are students studying who are in secondary school, college/sixth form, university. There are those who will be employed (either fulltime, part time and could be at an apprenticeships or internships placement.) For those unemployed could be because they are not needed to work but they aspire to work or go to university in the future. Our audience interests are watching films and programmes from all genre such as Friends, Pretty Little Liars, Gone Girl etc. They are very social with friends, take part leisure activities e.g. football, use social media platforms such as Instagram, stream through video hosting websites e.g. YouTube. They are adventurous as they seek discovery, trying new things and value change. So, they’d go out of their comfort zone to experience something different even though they do not know what to expect. We target those who are aware of their status and appearance and wants to maintain a good image. Who are confident and have goals and achievements to attain and combat challenges.
Publish of Advert:
-On social media platforms, such as Instagram and twitter because the young teenagers and the adults use this social network frequently throughout the day so there's more chances of our target audience seeing the poster, and radio trailer video. Also, this is an app that can be used on smart phones therefore the target audience can exchange and share with their friends by taking screen shots and sending it to people through 'direct message'.
-Radio stations are being majority of the radio trailers are aired, Stations such as Capital FM is where we like to air our trailers as it targets our audience demographics. So we are likely to target our audience from Capital FM listeners.
-We can link it to Vevo, SoundCloud, Sportify
Unique selling points:
-Not many radio trailers have their dialogue being disturbed and in a mix with every sound used before. We chose to use this as it connotes everything going on the protagonist head supporting the psychological horror genre.
-The setting for our horror film, the car park is something that is not common or not very focused on in horror, if so it's probably only a minimum of 4-5 scenes.
-Our film has a psychological twist where the antagonist turns out to be the protagonist. So, throughout the film the protagonist would be running away from the antagonist to only find out that the thing after them is them, their own illusion.
=Through research, we found that many horror films in the past 3 years have been more based on Supernatural and paranormal also religion sub-genre horror. Therefore, many of the horror films plot is predictable so it's the same old thing every time. Choosing psychological horror gives our audience something fresh and it's more likely to be memorable.
Competitive Market: Our competitive market could be TSG Entertainment. Although they produce their films over many different genres apart from horror, the most talked about psychological film of 2014, Gone Girl is probably the best psychological film there has recently been. This film also won many great awards such as the Empire Awards and was nominated a Grammy. This film is still talked about years on meaning it has left a statement as 'that' film in peopled mind. This is something we would like to achieve with our film but it needs to be enough for people to forget Gone Girl and remember Sakkaku.

Or is she an illusion from the illegal drugs injected in the protagonist? Etc.
Key scenes:
Key scene 1: Plain black screen which last for 1 second. On this blank frame, in typewriters effect it will say in Japanese characters “In Japan Osaka, an unknown drug test is currently taking place by an unqualified doctor who goes by the name of Yamazaki. " there will also be subtitles in English at the bottom. (10 second)
Key scene 2: Black screen fades out (1 second) as the non-diegetic ambient sound of the outside car park setting appears and the scene transitions to a high angle shot of the concrete floor for 2 seconds. The ambient sound is interrupted by a diegetic foot step, which is the protagonist foot entering the frame (1 second) as the non- diegetic humming background music is in sync with the foot step and the heavy breathing of the protagonist fills the sound. As the protagonist is running the camera tilt up to the protagonist body stopping at mid long shot. (3 seconds)

Point of view: concrete floor with the protagonist hands on the floor, exaggerated breathing sound is in sync with the camera motioning the protagonist body (1.5 seconds) Suddenly camera focus fades in and out and silence fills the scene. (2 seconds)
Key Scene 10: In a point of view in a medium close- up high angle shot the protagonist looks down at their left hand and camera blurs in and out of focus until the hand is raised off the ground. During this this you can hear the non-diegetic sound of the protagonists shallow breathing which quickens in pace as the protagonist turns their left hand around so the wrist is showing a mark (blue veins the skin around the wrist area is bruised). With the right hand of the protagonist, they touch their right hand delicately. During this the protagonist makes a ‘hiss’ sound (diegetic). (10 seconds)
Key Scene 11: 3 second after the ‘hiss’ sound, in the medium close up a foot comes into view and both hands fall back to the ground with the palms touching the floor. Diegetic sound of breathing increases in pace and becomes more heavy and deep. Camera tilts up mid-way to a low-key angle of the person standing in front of them. But the camera tilts up (at a low-key angle) to stop at the person’s mid waist and a non-diegetic ‘bang’ noise is heard. The camera quickly whips to the left side. (11 seconds)
Key Scene 12: Jump cuts to an over the shoulder shot, and no one is seen in the frame as protagonists says in a husky, shallow, strained voice ‘Who’s there?’ (Diegetic). (8 seconds)
Key Scene 13: Cuts to 3rd person (long shot) and diegetic sound of deep gasping and slight coughing can be heard. In the long shot protagonist is on the floor on their knees, looking down whilst their right hand is clasped around their throat. (7 seconds)
Key Scene 14: Camera cuts back to 1st person (the protagonist’s point of view) non-diegetic sound of humming are heard with ambient sound. Camera tilts up at eye level. Camera blurs in and out of focus once. (6 seconds)
Key Scene 15: Flashback of protagonist injected. Camera is in focus so the protagonist can see clearly the colour of the liquid in the syringe. Non-diegetic sound of a machine beeping. 3 seconds into this sound beeping sound increases in pace. During the frame of the flashback in the centre of the frame, the silhouette of the antagonist can be seen. (12 seconds)
Key Scene 16: The scene cuts back to ‘reality’ with the silhouette of the antagonist from the scene 14 still being in the centre of the frame. Non-diegetic sound of wind. The non-diegetic humming tune fades in. Antagonist approaches protagonist whilst the pace of the footsteps matches each ‘notes’ of the humming. (6 seconds)
Key Scene 17: The protagonist quickly stands to their feet as the camera is at eye level but as the protagonist stands up. Camera shakes and slants from left to right as the protagonist has difficulties standing but eventually does. (3 seconds)
Key Scene 18: Tracking shot of antagonist circling around the left side of the protagonist till they’re both facing each other. Faint non-diegetic rumbling is heard. (5 seconds)
Key Scene 19: Camera cuts into 3rd person mid shot of the antagonist saying in a faint whisper ‘Sakkaku’ whilst smiling in a ‘disturbing’ way. (3 seconds)
Key Scene 20: Jump cuts to 1st person as the protagonist is blinking once so it goes dark (x1). The diegetic breathing pace matches the pace of blinking (slow). (2 seconds).
Key Scene 21: The protagonist is blinking as ambient sound is heard in the background but after the first blink the antagonist is not in the mid shot. (X3) (6 seconds)
Key Scene 22: On the 4th blink, in a mi- shot the antagonist is holding out a knife in their right hand towards the antagonist. (1.5 second)
Key Scene 23: As the antagonists’ head tilts to the right the non-diegetic humming tune plays in the background as the antagonist smiles again then a jump cut would be made with the camera tilted, with the antagonist in the frame. (4seconds)
Key Scene 24: The camera catches a close-up of the knife in the right hand of the antagonist, then fade will be used for the duration of 3 seconds, after the fade the camera would then capture a figure of the protagonist with a long shot, blurred from the distance, (4seconds). From there a jump cute would be made in-between with the result the camera transitioning slowly to an over the shoulder shot, over the right side of the body.
Key Scene 25: The camera is handheld and turns slanted from behind the shoulder shot of the antagonist. The camera slowly turns straight and moves into the protagonist until the frame fits head to toe of the protagonist, which then turns into a long shot. The long shot would capture the protagonist standing with the fists clenched (4seconds). The editing will be fast paced here to make the transition faster. While the camera is slanted, and is turning vertical to capture the protagonist, there will be small cuts with flashes referring to the previous shots of the knife, to show the terror and the iconic weapon. The cuts duration would be of 1 second each time, shown 3x.
Key Scene 26: When the camera is restored to the right position of the camera, the camera captures mid shots of the protagonist from the left, center, right. In between of the different mid shot options taken, the editing of flashes would be created with the duration of 2 seconds to emphasise. The mid shots would be captured with a slanted angle to capture protagonist covering ears to stop hearing the non-diegetic humming which the pitch has risen in this scene.
Key Scene 27: A close-up of the protagonists face of eyes shut and hands firmly against ears would connote dizziness and confusion. Distorting would be used for editing in the duration of the camera capturing the protagonists face, to connote how unstable the protagonist has become. The humming noise would slowly fade yet the white noise would have its pitch raised to emphasise the protagonist wanting to be deaf from the humming. The duration of this shot would be for 3 seconds.
Key Scene 28: Protagonist reopens his eyes and they are wide open which then a close- up is still taken and the white noise is still used as ambient sound (2seconds). Continuity editing will be used and goes straight into a POV shot of camera whips pans left and right for then the antagonist is not seen. (3seconds)
Key Scene 29: With the camera whip pans left and right and the white noise is still used as ambient sound, the antagonist appears and is running towards protagonist from the left and right, and is coming closer to the camera, this then fades the white noise as ambient sound and fades in the humming. However, the antagonist would appear at different times (when the camera turns to certain side) 4seconds. A sting is used (3 seconds). “Tagline is said within 3seconds of darkness of camera”
Key Scene 30: (In duration of camera blackout) knife slash heard and of the knife turned
Key Scene 31: No ambient sounds would be used and silence will follow, then a sharp flash is used for editing and an over the shoulder shot is taken of the protagonists having his face rested on the antagonist’s right shoulder. Whilst and over the shoulder shot is used, the camera is hand handheld and shaking, 4seconds. Then a sting will be used again to create a black screen.
Key Scene 32: A distorted capture of a low angle shot of the protagonist’s feet from the side is used to capture the blood dripping onto the floor, a one take would be taken here as the camera would then move from the feet to, to then moving onto the face of the protagonist. The camera would still capture the side profile of the protagonist. A sting with the duration of 2 seconds to then a mid-shot of the protagonist smiling and blood drips from his mouth. Throughout this one take, the camera would be steady and a mid-shot would be taken throughout. The one take capture would be of the duration, 6 seconds.
Key Scene 33: Camera tilts from the face of the protagonist, to the stomach, revealing hand as the knife is in the protagonist’s hand and is placed in front of his stomach.
Key Scene 34: Continuity editing is used and the Protagonist kneels on the ground and collapses. This is captured with low angle to then turned into the camera moving out of the low angle and into bird’s eye view, viewing the protagonist from head to toe with the non-diegetic humming fading in and growing louder. (5 seconds)
Camera cuts fade to black.

The editing will be fast paced here to make the transition faster. While the camera is slanted and is turning vertical to capture the protagonist, there will be small cuts with flashes referring to the previous shots of the knife, to show the terror and the iconic weapon. The cuts duration would be of 1 second each time, shown 3x.
